CNC Bootcamp
with Nick Owen
$5,000
This manufacturing program introduces students to modern manufacturing practices by exploring the history of the industry, current trends, and emerging technologies such as Industry 4.0 while emphasizing safety, planning, and quality production. Students build foundational skills in print reading and precision measurement, learning to interpret blueprints, apply GD&T, calculate tolerances, and accurately use semi-precision and precision measuring tools. Through hands-on instruction in manual machining, students learn the theory and operation of lathes and mills, determine appropriate speeds and feeds, and perform basic milling and turning operations using blueprints. CNC milling coursework focuses on programming, setup, and operation of CNC mills, including machine controls, program editing, part production, and inspection processes. CNC turning completes the program by developing skills in programming and operating CNC lathes and turning centers while reinforcing quality control, inspection practices, and precision measurement throughout the manufacturing process.
